Here at the M office we love chatting with rising stars, and recently we got to sit down with a young singer that should totes be on your radar! Jeremy Fernandez is a 15-year-old singer with a love for his fans, and ducky faces! Check out our Q&A where Jeremy talks about his music video for "Miss America", his new song "Point 'Em Out" and his most embarrassing moment!
M: So what was it like shooting the music video for Miss America?
Jeremy: It was pretty cool cause that was my first music video that I've ever really done. I've had a lot of acting experience before, I've been on camera and all that, but I've never been on camera singing and dancing and doing what I want. So it was a pretty fun experience like just goofing around kinda- I really goofed around behind set.
M: Can you tell us anything about your new song, "Point Em' Out"?
J: Point Em' Out - I'm just gonna say 'where them cutie girls at.'
M: Last time we spoke, you said you were working with Cymphonique!
J: Yeah, I was working with Cymphonique on a song. She featured on one of my songs which is pretty cool.
M: Can you tell us what the song is called?
J: It's called 'Don't Let Go.'
M: Cool. And what about your full album, can you tell us anything about that?
J: Um, we're still doing some stuff, but it's definitely coming out this summer 2013.
M: Your fans have a name now, tell us about that who came up with it?
J: They're called J-Dezers! It really wasn't me who came up with it. It was totally the fans. [My manager] got a call and said the kids are callin' him J-Dez. I'm like 'hmmm, I think I like that.'
M: Have you ever had an embarrassing moment or do you have an embarrassing story?
J: In 3rd grade, I had a crush on this girl. You know, I'd been kinda keeping my eye on her for awhile and I never built up the courage to actually tell her that I like her, love her, that you're my everything. And so what I did was, on the last day of school, it was my last chance, I mean I probably wouldn't see her all summer cause 3rd graders don't really hang out that much because of parents and stuff. So I wrote a note to her. I was writing some romantic poem to her. So I fold the note and I put it in her bookbag underneath her desk, so I went back to my desk and I was like what is she gonna think? Is she gonna say yes? Is she gonna like me? I hope she likes my poem. So I watch her as she's walking up to her desk and she lifts the bookbag. So she's looking at the note and she's making all these kind of faces like 'whaat.' She looks over at me and then she just giggles. She just laughs at me and she was telling all of her other friends, 'Jeremy has a crush on me, ewwwwww!' I was just so embarrassed.
M: What are three random facts about yourself?
J: My favorite number is five, my favorite color is green, and I'm a really good cook!
