Hey M Girls,
M intern Toni here, bringing you an exclusive interview with 17-year-old DJ Danny Avila. Danny lives in Spain, (hello adorbs accent!) but is currently spending his days DJing around the US! Check out part of our chat, where Danny discusses making music, what he looks for in a girl, his extreme hobby, and more!
M: Hey Danny, we love your music! Can you describe your sound and style?
Danny: I'm very energetic and big room stuff and I would probably say it's a bit of electro as well.
M: How did you first get into DJing?
Danny: When I was twelve years old, I was listening to different styles of music and one day, I was like 'wow, I want to mix all of these types of music.' So then I bought a very simple controller and I just started and I was playing at my friends' parties in the south of Spain.
M: So, you're called the "heartthrob of EDM", what does it feel like being on stage knowing that you're the one controlling the crowd?
Danny: It's incredible! Honestly, the music scene in America is huge. When you're on a stage and so many people are jumping and screaming, it's just WOW. It's incredible.
M: We heard you're single! What do you look for in a girl?
Danny: That she is nice, she's not too annoying, texting you the whole day, she's more cool and she likes to do sports, like skateboard or wakeboard, and she's cool.
M: Word is you're into extreme sports, did you have to give that up to DJ?
Danny: I mean, I've never said I'm going to stop doing wakeboarding or stop DJing. It's more like I was wake boarding in a professional way, but it takes so much time so it was really tricky for me. I was also DJ-ing and for competitions it was really hard because the levels were so high, especially the riders from America and from Australia were incredible. I was living in part of Spain where you could not really train so much, so I was like 'okay, let's do this only as a hobby', just for fun during the summer with friends. I just stopped competing and I think that was a good decision.
M: We agree! So do you have any advice for your fans that may be looking to pursue a career as a DJ?
Danny: There are so many DJ's right now, so my advice to make your own music and to have your own personality and then you'll have all your gigs and tours and stuff!
